Nationwide Resources

The following is a list of U.S. organizations that provide financial assistance to pet owners in need. NOTE: If you know of an amazing resource that is not listed here, please let us know.

Each of these nationwide organizations is independent and has its own set of rules and guidelines. Therefore, you will have to investigate each one separately to determine if you qualify for assistance.

This directory is provided as an informational resource. We cannot guarantee that any of the organizations listed will be able to help in your specific situation. Listing does not imply endorsement of the clinic or program by us.

The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is a nonprofit organization that funds urgent medical care and helps with veterinary bills for serious conditions. NOTE: They do not fund spay or neuter surgeries, dental work, preventative care, ongoing treatments, or end-of-life care.

Brown Dog Foundation provides funding to families with a sick pet that would likely respond to treatment, but due to an unforeseen circumstance, there is not enough money immediately available to make it happen. They work with the family and the veterinarian to find the most affordable path to saving the pet.

Elderly Pet Grant Program  Offers pet insurance micro-grants to owners of senior pets who meet all of the eligibility requirements. Awards are granted quarterly, for a maximum award of $250.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless/Emergency Veterinary Care provides financial assistance directly to veterinarians for pre-approved emergency veterinary care for pets whose owner is experiencing homelessness. Examples of the need for emergency treatment include: parvo; swallowing of foreign objects; open skin lesions; broken bones, ear infections, palpable growth, and mange (skin mites). 

For the Love of Alex provides emergency funding for pets of low-income families for life-saving veterinary care. They do not fund non-urgent or routine care.

Frankie’s Friends Fund provides financial assistance grants to family-owned pets in need of lifesaving emergency or specialty veterinary care whose caregivers cannot afford the full cost of treatment. They do not fund primary care, preventative care, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, or treatment of chronic diseases or medications to support lifelong ailments.  

Friends and Vets Helping Pets funds treatments for curable (lifesaving, not life-prolong) diseases such as tumors, broken bones, ambulatory care, expensive medication, or post-surgical prosthetics such as a K-9 cart. They do not fund routine vet care, diagnostics like ultrasound and MRI tests or preventative measures.

Greater Good distributes food, essential supplies, clothing, housewares, toys, and more to pets and people in need across the world through its network of ambassadors.

Handicapped Pets Foundation donates new or reconditioned wheelchairs to pets in need.

H.E.A.L Foundation provides financial assistance to owners of senior (6+ years) dogs requiring vet care.

Help-a-Pet is a nonprofit organization which provides financial assistance to pet owners who are unable to afford the cost of veterinary services, medicine, or medical supplies for a sick or injured pet.  

Molly’s Hope provides the necessary financial assistance for emergency medical treatment. Typical grants range between $300.00 – $400.00. 

The Murphee and Sugar Angel Foundation assists pet parents with subsidizing veterinary costs for critically ill or injured pets.

My PetChild Financial Aid Program provides one-time grants of up to $200 for pet owners who need financial assistance with non-emergency, non-routine veterinary treatments.

The Onyx & Breezy Foundation provides funding and support to pets of individuals where financial hardship is present. Individuals must apply for Care Credit before applying for funds. 

Oscars Cause is a nonprofit that provides financial assistance grants to pet owners in need of emergency and non-emergency medical care for their pets. They also provide other assistance such as supplies, food, and help with rehoming.

Paws 4 A Cure is a nonprofit organization that provides non-routine veterinary financial assistance throughout the United States for all illnesses and injury treatment which includes medication, Heartworm-positive treatment and medical equipment such as wheelchairs. 

Pets For Life (NOTE: This program is only available in certain communities. Search to find out if one is near you.) Provides free and discounted veterinary care, supplies, services and information to pet owners and builds trust and positive relationships within the communities that are served.

The Pet Fund provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals in the United States who need non-basic, non-urgent veterinary care such as cancer treatment, heart disease, chronic conditions, endocrine diseases, eye diseases, etc.

RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant program provides financial assistance, resources, and emotional support for pet guardians struggling with economic hardship when pets are in life-threatening situations. The average grant is around $250, and is intended to fill a small gap in funding that is keeping an animal from care. They also have resources dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence escape abusive environments with their pets, and a program that helps with disaster relief.

Violet’s Friends in Need offers financial assistance for urgent or critical veterinary care, surgeries, therapies, or mobility solutions that are too costly for pet parents.

Cancer-specific assistance

Live Like Roo Foundation provides financial assistance to help cover healthcare costs related to cancer treatments. Anyone served through this foundation is also eligible for assistance with humane euthanasia and cremation costs through Serenity’s Wish grants.

Magic Bullet Fund provides assistance for cancer treatment including surgery or chemotherapy only.

Mesothelioma Hope provides free resources and detailed information for cancer patients, including information about support animals for cancer patients.
